The Master of Accounting is a professionally oriented program designed to develop advanced technical knowledge, analytical capability, and strategic thinking required in today’s global accounting and financial environment. The program begins with a 40-credit-point Foundation Zone for students from non-accounting backgrounds, offering essential units such as Principles of Accounting, Business and Company Law, Principles of Finance, and Economics for Professionals. These subjects build a strong grounding in core business, legal, and financial concepts. The Core Zone, worth 80 credit points, forms the central focus of the degree and includes comprehensive accounting studies such as Applied Business Information Systems, Managerial Accounting for Decision Making, Financial Reporting Standards and Practice, Applied Taxation Law, Auditing and Assurance Services, Corporate Accounting, Current Issues in Accounting and Corporate Governance, and an Accounting Capstone. These units ensure students gain deep expertise in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and corporate governance. The Flexible Zone of 40 credit points allows students to broaden or specialise their learning through electives like Management Control Systems, Forensic Accounting, Business Ethics and Sustainability, Sustainability Accounting and Accountability, Forensic and Data Analytics, and Cyber Security, Governance Frameworks and Ethics. Overall, the program prepares graduates for professional roles in accounting, auditing, taxation, forensic accounting, corporate governance, and financial management within both local and international organisations.
