COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Social Sciences and Bachelor of Laws double degree combines interdisciplinary social science training with comprehensive legal education, preparing graduates to understand and address complex social, institutional, and legal challenges. The Bachelor of Social Sciences core includes foundational units such as Introduction to Social Sciences, Social Sciences in Action, Problems, Solutions and Uncertainty, Practising Social Sciences, Evaluating Complexity, The Arts of Enquiry, and a PACE unit focused on applying social science in real-world contexts. Students complete a capstone unit titled Becoming a Change Maker, which integrates their learning through applied problem-solving. The major in Health, Wellbeing and Society develops specialised knowledge in health systems, culture, illness, and social determinants of wellbeing through units including Health, Society and Culture, Health, Illness and Healing, Contemporary Health Issues, Health Bodies and Media, Bodies Brains Technology, Health Promotion, and Human Services in the 21st Century. The Bachelor of Laws component provides a structured legal education covering core areas such as contracts, criminal justice, torts, property law, constitutional law, administrative law, evidence, equity and trusts, jurisprudence, and business organisations. Students also complete a law capstone in remedies and dispute resolution, participate in PACE placements or clinics, and choose from electives in areas such as human rights law, environmental law, health law and ethics, law and technology, and international legal studies. Together, the program builds strong analytical, legal, and social research skills for careers in law, policy, advocacy, and public service.
