COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Security Studies and Bachelor of Laws double degree integrates multidisciplinary security training with comprehensive legal education, preparing graduates for careers across national security, defence, intelligence, and legal practice. The Bachelor of Security Studies core provides a structured pathway through 160 credit points of study, beginning with foundational units such as Critical Thinking, Introduction to Security Studies, New Security Challenges, Strategy and Security in the Indo-Pacific, and International Security in the 20th Century. Students then progress to specialised areas including Cybercrime, Intelligence and Counter Intelligence, Modern Warfare, Crisis Management and Disaster Relief, Terrorism and Counterterrorism, Cyber Security in Practice, Intelligence Policy, Strategies of Political Violence, and Australian National Security. A capstone unit in Security Policy Analysis allows students to examine current and emerging global issues, supported by a PACE unit focused on ethical practice in security studies. The Bachelor of Laws component provides a comprehensive legal education across core areas including contracts, criminal law, torts, property law, constitutional law, administrative law, evidence, equity and trusts, jurisprudence, and public international law. Students also complete a law capstone on remedies and dispute resolution, undertake practical placements or clinics, and choose from electives in areas such as human rights, environmental law, law and technology, corporate governance, and international legal studies. Together, the program builds strong analytical, strategic, and legal skills for careers in security, intelligence, policy, and law.
