COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Security Studies provides a comprehensive pathway for understanding and addressing modern security challenges in a rapidly changing global environment. The core zone builds a strong foundation through essential units in critical thinking, security studies, geopolitics, war and world order, intelligence, cybercrime, terrorism, and crisis management. These subjects develop a deep understanding of how security threats emerge, evolve, and are managed across national and international contexts. Students also study modern warfare, strategies of political violence, and Australian national security, gaining insight into both historical and contemporary security issues. A key feature of the program is its emphasis on applied learning, including cyber security in practice, intelligence management, and international studies through practical engagement. The capstone unit integrates all learning, focusing on analysing current and emerging security policy challenges. The flexible zone allows students to tailor their studies further to individual interests and career goals. Throughout the degree, students develop strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to assess risk and make informed, evidence-based decisions. The program prepares graduates for careers in intelligence, defence, cybersecurity, law enforcement, policy analysis, and risk management, equipping them to respond effectively to complex and evolving global security threats.
