COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychological Science with a major in Cognitive and Brain Sciences is a 240 credit point program designed to provide a deep understanding of human behaviour, cognition and brain function through an interdisciplinary approach. The core zone consists of 110 credit points of essential units that build a strong foundation in psychology, health systems, evidence-based practice, statistical methods and behavioural science. Students study areas such as social and personality psychology, developmental psychology, perception and cognition, psychopathology, biopsychology and learning, and advanced research design and statistics, developing strong analytical and scientific research skills. The program also includes electives that allow students to broaden their knowledge in psychology, health and wellbeing, lifestyle factors and health in society, as well as additional advanced-level study. A 10 credit point capstone unit, PACE: Psychological Science: Putting Theory into Practice, integrates theoretical knowledge with real-world application and professional experience. The Cognitive and Brain Sciences major focuses on understanding brain function and cognitive processes through specialised units such as cognitive and brain sciences, diseases and disorders of the nervous system, big ideas in cognitive and brain sciences and computational neuroscience. This major combines psychology, neuroscience and computational methods to explore how the brain shapes behaviour and cognition. Graduates are prepared for careers in neuroscience, psychology, research, healthcare, data science and cognitive technology, with strong skills in scientific analysis, research and evidence-based problem-solving.
