COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Medical Sciences with a major in Infectious Disease and Diagnostics provides a structured pathway for understanding how infectious diseases arise, spread, and are managed in human and environmental systems. The core zone builds a strong foundation in biological and medical sciences through essential units in genetics, human biology, chemistry, statistics, and human structure and function, along with foundational studies in medical sciences and contemporary health issues. These core subjects ensure students develop essential scientific literacy and analytical skills required for advanced study. A capstone unit in the final year integrates learning across the degree, focusing on applying medical science knowledge to real-world challenges. The major then develops specialised expertise in infectious disease biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, physiology, and ecology. Students study organisms from microbes to complex systems and explore how diseases emerge and evolve, particularly in the context of global environmental and population changes.
