COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Medical Sciences with a major in Genomics and Precision Medicine provides a structured pathway into understanding how genetic and molecular information is transforming modern healthcare. The core zone establishes a strong foundation in biological and medical sciences through essential units in genetics, human biology, chemistry, statistics, and human structure and function, along with introductory studies in medical sciences and contemporary health issues. This foundational knowledge is integrated in a final-year capstone unit focused on applying medical science concepts in real-world contexts. The major then builds specialised expertise in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, and bioinformatics, with an emphasis on how genetic information can be used to understand, prevent, and treat disease. Students study areas such as clinical bioinformatics, molecular genomics, and translational biology, learning how to interpret complex biological and “omics” data. The inclusion of scientific computing and biostatistics ensures students gain essential computational and analytical skills for modern biomedical research.
