COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Medical Sciences with a major in Anatomy and Physiology provides a structured pathway into understanding the human body at multiple levels, from basic biological processes to complex integrated systems. The core zone builds a strong foundation through essential units in biology, chemistry, statistics, human structure and function, and contemporary health issues, ensuring students develop broad scientific literacy and analytical skills. This is consolidated through a capstone experience that integrates knowledge from across the degree in a medical sciences context. The major focuses on deeper study of human physiology and anatomy, including systems physiology, neuroscience, clinical anatomy and medical imaging, and advanced human physiology. Students also explore specialised areas such as the nervous system and other body systems, gaining insight into how structure relates to function in both health and disease. Elective units allow further exploration of specific anatomical regions or systems, such as the head, neck and trunk or musculoskeletal and alimentary systems. Across the program, students develop practical laboratory skills, data analysis abilities, and an understanding of biomedical concepts relevant to healthcare and medical research. The degree prepares graduates for further study in medicine and allied health, as well as careers in biomedical science, research, and health-related industries.
