COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Software Technology major) is a 240-credit-point program structured into a 160-credit-point core zone and an 80-credit-point major, designed to develop strong foundations in computing, programming, and software engineering principles. The core zone includes essential units such as Introduction to Computer Programming (COMP1000), Introduction to Cyber Security (COMP1300), Database Design and Management (COMP1350), Networking and Cloud Computing (COMP2270), and Project Management and Professional Practice (COMP2700), which provide core technical and professional IT competencies. Students also complete the PACE: Computing Industry Project (COMP3850), a capstone experience that integrates academic learning with real industry application. Elective units allow flexibility through subjects such as Fundamentals of Computer Science, Game Development, Business Information Systems, Introductory Statistics, Computer Networks, Enterprise Systems Integration, Technology Management, and Decision Making under Uncertainty. The Software Technology major (80 credit points) focuses on advanced programming and system design through units such as Object-Oriented Programming Practices, Algorithms and Data Structures, Systems Programming, Programming Languages, Distributed Systems, Software Systems Development and Operations, and Discrete Mathematics I. Overall, the program equips graduates with strong skills in software design, algorithmic thinking, system architecture, and programming across multiple platforms. Students are prepared for careers in software development, systems engineering, application design, cloud computing, and IT consultancy, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, industry-relevant software development experience.
