COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Systems and Business Analysis major) is a 240-credit-point program structured into a 160-credit-point core zone and an 80-credit-point major, designed to develop both technical IT skills and business-focused analytical capabilities. The core zone includes essential units such as Introduction to Computer Programming (COMP1000), Introduction to Cyber Security (COMP1300), Database Design and Management (COMP1350), Networking and Cloud Computing (COMP2270), and Project Management and Professional Practice (COMP2700), which build foundational knowledge in computing, systems, and IT management. Students also complete the PACE: Computing Industry Project (COMP3850), a capstone experience that integrates academic learning with real-world industry practice. Elective units allow flexibility through subjects like Fundamentals of Computer Science, Game Development, Business Information Systems, Introductory Statistics, Computer Networks, Enterprise Systems Integration, Technology Management, and Decision Making under Uncertainty. The Information Systems and Business Analysis major (80 credit points) focuses on applying IT within organisational and business contexts through units such as Business Information Systems, Database Systems, Applications Modelling and Development, Information Systems and Data Analytics for Accountants, Enterprise Systems Integration, Management of IT Systems and Projects, and Managing Analytics and Algorithmic Systems. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in business analysis, IT consulting, systems design, data analytics, and information systems management by combining technical computing knowledge with strong business understanding and problem-solving skills.
