COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science is a structured program designed to develop expertise in human movement, exercise physiology, and sport performance, preparing graduates for careers in health, fitness, rehabilitation, and sport science. The core curriculum provides a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, research methods, and exercise prescription, ensuring students understand how the human body responds and adapts to physical activity. Early units such as Introduction to Exercise and Sport Science, Human Physiology, and Functional Anatomy build essential scientific knowledge, while later studies focus on performance analysis, strength and conditioning, behaviour change, public health, and human development across the lifespan. Students also gain skills in research and data analysis, enabling them to apply evidence-based practice in professional settings. Advanced subjects such as exercise physiology, biomechanics of human movement, motor learning, and nutrition deepen understanding of athletic performance and health optimisation. Practical learning is a key component, with structured placements like Exercise Science Placement I and PACE Exercise Science Placement II, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world environments. The capstone unit consolidates professional practice skills, preparing students for industry readiness. Elective units in psychology, neuroscience, statistics, and health issues provide additional interdisciplinary knowledge. Overall, the degree equips graduates with scientific, analytical, and applied skills for diverse roles in exercise science and related fields.
