COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronic Engineering is a 320-credit-point program comprising a 280-credit-point core zone and a 40-credit-point flexible zone, designed to develop expertise in integrating mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer engineering systems. The core engineering component includes essential units such as Introduction to Engineering (ENGG1000), Engineering Design (ENGG1050), Engineering Practice (ENGG2000), Engineering Systems and Design Thinking (ENGG2050), Engineering Project Practice (ENGG3000), Engineering Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ENGG3050), and the Professional Practice capstone (ENGG4001), complemented by industry experience through PACE (ENGG4099). The Mechatronic Engineering specialisation consists of 210 credit points covering foundational subjects in Calculus, Linear Algebra, Computer Programming, Engineering Physics, Electrical and Electronic Systems, Linear Circuits, Signals and Systems, Mechanical Design, and Engineering Mathematics. Students then progress to specialised units including Introduction to Mechatronics, Control Systems, Embedded Systems, Mechatronic Systems, Robotics and Automation, Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS), Advanced Mechatronic Engineering, and Wireless Mechatronics. The curriculum concludes with two research thesis units (MTRN4092 and MTRN4093), enabling students to undertake independent engineering research and solve complex interdisciplinary problems. Throughout the program, students gain practical experience in designing, programming, testing, and maintaining intelligent electromechanical systems using industry-standard tools and technologies. Overall, the degree prepares graduates for careers in robotics, automation, smart manufacturing, embedded systems, autonomous technologies, industrial control, and advanced engineering industries by combining strong theoretical foundations with practical design, research, and professional engineering skills.
