COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering is a 320-credit-point program comprising a 280-credit-point core zone and a 40-credit-point flexible zone, designed to develop comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in mechanical engineering. The core engineering component includes essential units such as Introduction to Engineering (ENGG1000), Engineering Design (ENGG1050), Engineering Practice (ENGG2000), Engineering Systems and Design Thinking (ENGG2050), Engineering Project Practice (ENGG3000), Engineering Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ENGG3050), and the Professional Practice capstone (ENGG4001), supported by industry experience through PACE (ENGG4099). The Mechanical Engineering specialisation consists of 210 credit points and begins with foundational studies in Calculus, Linear Algebra, Computer Programming, Engineering Physics, Engineering Mathematics, and Introduction to Mechanical Engineering. Students then progress to specialised subjects including Engineering Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Mechanics of Solids, Engineering Materials, Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Applied Numerical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design Engineering, and Energy Sustainable Design. The curriculum also includes two research thesis units (MECH4092 and MECH4093), enabling students to develop independent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills through engineering projects. An elective in Production Processes or an Engineering Research Thesis Extension allows further specialisation. Overall, the program integrates engineering theory, practical design, simulation, manufacturing, sustainability, and research to prepare graduates for careers in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, energy, robotics, and advanced mechanical systems engineering.
