COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering is a 320-credit-point program structured into a 280-credit-point core zone and a 40-credit-point flexible zone, designed to develop strong technical, analytical, and professional engineering skills. The core engineering foundation includes essential units such as Introduction to Engineering (ENGG1000), Engineering Design (ENGG1050), Engineering Practice (ENGG2000), Engineering Systems and Design Thinking (ENGG2050), Engineering Project Practice (ENGG3000), Engineering Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ENGG3050), and a capstone Professional Practice unit (ENGG4001), along with industry experience through PACE (ENGG4099). The Civil Engineering specialisation forms the major component (210 credit points), beginning with fundamental subjects such as Introduction to Civil Engineering (CIVL1001), Calculus and Linear Algebra, Engineering Physics, Computer Programming, and Engineering Mathematics. Students then progress into core civil engineering areas including Water and Wastewater Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics and Hydrology, Transport Engineering, and the Design of Concrete, Steel, and Timber Structures. Advanced learning includes Construction Management, Integrated Structural Design, and research thesis projects (CIVL4090 and CIVL4091), which develop independent problem-solving and research skills. Final-year project-based units further strengthen practical application in geotechnical, transportation, and structural engineering. Elective units such as Health and Safety in Construction and Construction Technology and Innovation allow additional specialization. Overall, the program prepares graduates to design, build, and manage sustainable infrastructure systems using engineering principles, innovation, and industry-standard practices.
