COURSE CURRICULUM

The combined Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Actuarial Studies offers a comprehensive curriculum that develops advanced analytical, quantitative, and financial expertise. The Economics component builds a strong foundation through core units in Microeconomic Analysis, Macroeconomic Analysis, Introductory and Intermediate Econometrics, Public Economics, and Behavioural Economics, enabling students to understand economic systems, policy development, and data-driven decision-making. The program also includes a PACE capstone that provides practical industry experience, while electives allow students to explore specialised areas such as Financial Institutions, Money and Finance, Labour Markets and Artificial Intelligence, Health Economics, Financial Econometrics, Economic Development, Environmental Economics, International Finance, Macroeconomic Policy, and Economic Decision-Making. Students can further strengthen their skills through electives in quantitative methods, accounting, programming, or data analytics. The Actuarial Studies component provides rigorous training in mathematics, statistics, finance, and risk management through subjects including Calculus, Statistical Data Analysis, Mathematics of Finance, Finance and Financial Reporting, Contingent Payments, Statistics, and Probability. A capstone unit in Actuarial Modelling integrates theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, while advanced electives cover Survival Models, Actuarial Data Analytics, Quantitative Asset and Liability Modelling, Risk Analysis, Actuarial Statistics, and Actuarial Control Cycles. Together, these programs prepare graduates for careers in economics, actuarial science, finance, insurance, banking, investment, consulting, and quantitative risk management.
