COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Economics is a 240 credit point program consisting of a 160 credit point core zone and an 80 credit point flexible zone designed to build strong analytical, quantitative and policy-oriented skills. The core structure includes foundational units such as ECON1020 Economics and Business Strategy, ECON1021 Economics and the Global Economy and STAT1250 Business Statistics and Insights, which introduce key economic principles and data analysis methods. Students then progress into intermediate and advanced study through microeconomics and macroeconomics (ECON2003 and ECON2004), econometrics (ECON2041 and ECON2032), behavioural economics (ECON2015) and public economics (ECON3000), developing the ability to model and evaluate real-world economic problems. The capstone unit ECON3081 PACE: Current Issues in Economics integrates learning through applied, contemporary economic issues. Students also choose electives across areas such as financial institutions, labour markets, health economics, environmental economics, international finance and economic development, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific interests. Additional elective options include quantitative methods, finance, accounting, programming and data analytics, supporting interdisciplinary skill development. This flexible structure ensures graduates gain strong capabilities in economic reasoning, statistical analysis and policy evaluation. The program prepares students for careers in economics, policy, consulting, finance and government, equipping them with practical and theoretical tools to analyse complex economic systems and make informed decisions in a rapidly changing global economy.
