COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Cyber Security is a 240 credit point program structured with a 200 credit point core zone and a 40 credit point flexible zone, designed to build comprehensive technical and professional expertise in computing and security. The core begins with foundational computing and mathematics units such as COMP1000 Introduction to Computer Programming, COMP1010 Fundamentals of Computer Science, COMP1350 Introduction to Database Design and Management, MATH1007 Discrete Mathematics I and STAT1170 Introductory Statistics, which establish essential analytical and programming skills. Students then progress into advanced computing areas including systems programming, web technologies, data science, networking and cloud computing, and cryptography through units such as COMP2100, COMP2110, COMP2200, COMP2270 and COMP2300. Cyber security–specific training is developed through COMP1300 Introduction to Cyber Security, COMP2310 Digital Forensics, COMP3300 Data Privacy and Information Security, COMP3310 Secure Applications Development and COMP3330 Offensive Security and Ethical Hacking. The program also integrates governance, ethics and real-world application through BUSA3060 Cyber Security Governance and Ethics, COMP2700 Project Management and Professional Practice, PICT2001 Cybercrime and the industry-based COMP3850 PACE Computing Industry Project. The degree culminates in COMP3320 Cyber Security Management in Practice, which consolidates learning in a practical context. The flexible zone allows further study breadth. Overall, the program develops strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills for careers in cybersecurity, software security, digital forensics and IT risk management.
