COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology and Bachelor of Laws double degree integrates the study of crime, justice systems, and legal frameworks to develop a deep understanding of how societies define, regulate, and respond to crime. The Bachelor of Criminology core includes foundational units such as Introduction to Criminology, Policing and Crime, Introducing Indigenous Australia, Introduction to Social Sciences, and Introduction to Justice and Punishment. Students then progress to advanced areas including Media, Representation and Crime, Transnational Crime, Cybercrime, Terrorism and Counterterrorism, Crime, Policy and Governance, and Practising Social Sciences. The curriculum also addresses contemporary social issues through units such as Crime, Justice and the Environment, Settler Colonialism, Decolonisation and Indigenous Futures, and Gender, Crime and Violence, culminating in a capstone unit on Criminological Futures and a PACE unit focused on ethical practice in criminology and security studies. The Bachelor of Laws component provides a comprehensive legal education covering core areas such as contracts, criminal justice, torts, property law, constitutional law, administrative law, equity and trusts, evidence, jurisprudence, and business organisations. Students also complete a law capstone in remedies and dispute resolution, undertake practical learning through placements or clinics, and select from a wide range of electives including human rights law, environmental law, law and technology, family law, corporate governance, taxation, and international legal studies. Together, the program prepares graduates for careers in law, criminology, policy, research, and justice-related fields.
