COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Business Information Systems provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary program that combines business knowledge with information technology skills to prepare students for the demands of the digital economy. The core zone of the degree builds a strong foundation in accounting for decision making, finance fundamentals, economics and business strategy, management, marketing, business statistics and employability skills, ensuring students develop well-rounded business capabilities. The final-year capstone unit, Capstone: Agility and Excellence in Business, integrates learning from across the degree and enables students to apply strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to complex real-world business challenges. The Business Information Systems major focuses on how organisations design, develop and manage technology-based systems to improve efficiency, decision-making and competitive advantage. Students study core areas such as database design and management, information systems and data analytics for accountants, database systems, applications modelling and development, information systems for management, digital risk management and IT systems and project management. The program also includes the PACE Enterprise Intelligence Project, where students gain practical industry experience by working on real organisational challenges. This combination of business and technical learning equips graduates with strong analytical, problem-solving and digital skills, preparing them for careers in business analysis, systems analysis, IT consulting, data analytics, digital transformation and information systems management across a wide range of industries in today’s technology-driven business environment.
