COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Business Analytics is a 160 credit point program designed to equip students with the skills needed to extract meaningful insights from large and complex datasets in today’s data-driven business environment. The core zone of 70 credit points provides a strong foundation in accounting for decision making, finance fundamentals, economics and business strategy, management, marketing and value creation, business statistics and employability skills. These units develop essential business knowledge along with analytical thinking, communication and problem-solving abilities. The final-year capstone unit, Capstone: Agility and Excellence in Business (10 credit points), integrates learning from across the degree and allows students to apply their knowledge to complex real-world business challenges. The Business Analytics major accounts for 80 credit points and focuses on developing expertise in data analysis, statistical methods and business intelligence. Key units include introduction to data, analytics and people, information systems and data analytics for accountants, data visualisation and storytelling, statistical data analytics, advanced analytics techniques, cyber security governance and ethics, and graphics, multivariate methods and data mining. The PACE Business Analytics Project provides practical industry experience by engaging students in real-world data problems. Overall, the program develops strong quantitative, technical and problem-solving skills, preparing graduates for careers in business analytics, data science, consulting, operations analysis, market research and business intelligence across a wide range of industries.
