COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Finance and Bachelor of Economics double degree combines advanced financial training with rigorous economic analysis, equipping students with strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making skills for careers in finance, banking, consulting, and policy. The Bachelor of Applied Finance provides a practice-oriented curriculum covering key areas such as accounting for decision making, corporate finance and capital markets, investments, fintech foundations, financial data analytics, applied portfolio management, and advanced corporate finance. Students also complete a capstone unit focused on real-world applied finance issues through PACE, and choose electives in areas such as financial risk management, derivatives, trading in financial markets, bank financial management, wealth management, and financial econometrics. The Bachelor of Economics complements this with a strong foundation in economic theory and data analysis, including units in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, public economics, behavioural economics, and statistics. Students further specialise through electives in financial institutions, labour markets and artificial intelligence, money and finance, environmental economics, international finance, macroeconomic policy, and economic development, along with quantitative and programming foundations. A capstone unit in current economic issues through PACE provides applied experience, while additional electives allow further academic flexibility. Together, the program integrates finance and economics to develop graduates who can analyse markets, manage financial risk, interpret economic trends, and apply data-driven insights to real-world financial and policy challenges.
