COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Finance and Bachelor of Actuarial Studies double degree combines applied financial expertise with advanced quantitative risk analysis to prepare graduates for careers in finance, investment, and actuarial professions. The Bachelor of Applied Finance core provides strong training in corporate finance, capital markets, investments, fintech applications, financial data analytics, portfolio management, and advanced corporate finance. Students also complete a capstone PACE unit focused on real-world issues in applied finance and select electives in areas such as financial risk management, derivative instruments, trading in financial markets, bank financial management, wealth management, and financial econometrics. This structure develops practical skills in financial decision-making, investment strategy, and risk assessment. The Bachelor of Actuarial Studies component provides a rigorous foundation in mathematical and statistical methods used to analyse financial and insurance systems. Core units include calculus and linear algebra, statistical data analysis, probability, statistics, mathematics of finance, contingent payments, economics, and financial reporting. Students further advance through actuarial modelling capstones and specialised electives in survival models, actuarial data analytics, quantitative asset and liability modelling, actuarial statistics, and risk analysis methods. Together, the double degree equips students with strong analytical, mathematical, and financial capabilities, enabling them to evaluate uncertainty, manage risk, and develop strategic solutions for organisations. Graduates are well prepared for careers in investment banking, actuarial consulting, financial modelling, and risk management across global industries.
