COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Finance provides a structured and industry-focused curriculum designed to develop strong technical, analytical and decision-making skills for careers in the financial sector. The program begins with core units that build a solid foundation in accounting for decision making, corporate finance and capital markets, economics and business strategy, economics and the global economy, investments, fintech foundations and applications, financial data analytics, applied portfolio management and advanced corporate finance. These units equip students with the ability to understand financial systems, analyse data and make informed investment and corporate decisions. A capstone unit, PACE: Issues in Applied Finance, integrates learning through real-world industry engagement and applied problem-solving. Students also complete elective units that allow them to broaden or specialise their expertise in areas such as finance fundamentals, actuarial studies, business statistics, statistical data analysis, econometrics and probability. Additional advanced electives include financial risk management, derivative instruments, trading in financial markets, bank financial management, wealth management and financial econometrics, providing deeper insight into specialised finance fields. The flexible zone further allows students to customise their degree based on career interests. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing graduates for careers in banking, investment management, corporate finance, fintech, financial planning, trading and risk management, where strong analytical ability and financial expertise are highly valued.
