COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Teaching (Secondary) course requires students to complete 240 credit points, combining core studies with specialised discipline pedagogy to develop comprehensive skills for secondary education. In Level one, students complete 120 credit points, including 60 credit points of core subjects and 60 credit points from approved secondary discipline pedagogy areas. The core units introduce essential aspects of teaching practice, including Academic Integrity, Understanding Learning and Differentiation, Learning Design and Classroom Management, Professional Identity and Ethics for Educators, and Digital Literacies. These subjects build foundational knowledge in effective teaching strategies, ethical professional practice, inclusive learning, classroom organisation, and the use of digital technologies in education. Level two consists of 120 credit points of advanced core studies that further develop students’ professional capabilities. Units such as Understanding and Assessing Integrated Curriculum, Framing Identities and Cultures, Diverse Learners and Pedagogy, Teaching for Impact and Inclusion, Researching Teacher Impact, Integrated Curriculum: General Capabilities, Sustaining Evidence-Based Practice, and Transitions and Pedagogies: Middle and Senior School enhance students’ ability to design effective curriculum, assess learning, support diverse students, and apply research-informed teaching approaches. Through this structure, graduates develop the expertise, confidence, and practical skills required to create engaging, inclusive, and impactful secondary learning environments.
