COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Teaching (Primary) requires students to complete a total of 240 credit points, comprising core study designed to develop comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for primary teaching. The course structure provides a strong foundation in educational theory, curriculum development, classroom practice, and professional teaching standards. In Level one, students complete 120 credit points of core subjects that introduce key areas essential for effective primary education. These units include Academic Integrity, Understanding Learning and Differentiation, Integrated Curriculum: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Culture, Literacy and Numeracy Across the Curriculum, Learning Design and Classroom Management, Foundations of Language and Early Reading, Teaching Mathematics, Science and Technology (STEAM), and Professional Identity and Ethics for Educators. Through these subjects, students develop an understanding of diverse learning needs, inclusive teaching approaches, curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and effective classroom management techniques. The course also emphasises culturally responsive teaching, ethical professional practice, and the integration of innovative approaches such as STEAM education and digital learning. By completing these core units, students build the theoretical knowledge and practical capabilities required to create engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. The program prepares graduates to confidently enter primary classrooms and contribute positively to the educational development of young learners.
