COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Physiotherapy Practice consists of 255 credit points of core study designed to provide students with the comprehensive knowledge, clinical skills and professional capabilities required for physiotherapy practice. The first level of the course focuses on developing a strong foundation in anatomy, physiotherapy principles and the application of evidence-based care across a range of healthcare environments. Students begin with Applied Anatomy for Physiotherapy, building an understanding of human structure and function essential for assessment and treatment. Core subjects introduce key areas of physiotherapy practice, including community care, acute care, musculoskeletal conditions, cardiorespiratory health and neurological rehabilitation. Students also explore development and ageing, gaining insight into providing appropriate care for individuals across different life stages. The course emphasises practical skill development through preparation for clinical practice, where students learn assessment techniques, treatment approaches, communication strategies and professional behaviours required in healthcare settings. Indigenous cultural literacy is also incorporated to promote culturally safe and respectful practice. Through integrated theoretical learning and practical application, students develop the ability to assess patient needs, design effective interventions and support recovery, mobility and quality of life. This foundation prepares graduates for advanced clinical learning and professional physiotherapy practice in diverse healthcare settings.
