COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Nursing Practice consists of 240 credit points of core study designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and professional experience required to become registered nurses. To successfully complete the course, students must complete all core subjects and undertake 800 hours of supervised clinical placements as part of the professional experience requirements. The first year of study focuses on developing essential nursing foundations, professional identity and clinical readiness. Students explore professional nursing practice, legal and ethical responsibilities, First Nations peoples’ health and healing, and contemporary approaches to healthcare delivery. The course also includes preparation for nursing practice subjects that build clinical skills, communication abilities and confidence in patient care environments. Through Professional Experience Placements, students apply theoretical knowledge in real healthcare settings, gaining valuable experience under supervision. Additional units develop leadership capabilities, evidence-based practice and the ability to contribute effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. By integrating academic learning, simulation-based preparation and workplace experience, the course equips graduates with the competence required to provide safe, compassionate and culturally responsive nursing care. Completion of the program prepares students for professional registration and a rewarding career as a registered nurse across diverse healthcare settings.
