COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Nursing consists of 240 credit points and is structured to provide advanced nursing education, specialised knowledge, and professional development opportunities for experienced healthcare practitioners. The course is divided into Level One and Level Two study components, with each level contributing to the development of advanced clinical, leadership, research, and professional practice skills. The program includes 60 credit points of specialisation study, with the Critical Care specialisation available for advanced standing purposes. This specialisation is designed to enhance nurses’ ability to provide specialised care for patients with complex and life-threatening conditions in high-pressure healthcare environments. Students develop advanced skills in critical care nursing, including patient assessment, clinical reasoning, emergency response, trauma management, and evidence-based decision-making. The specialisation focuses on preparing nurses to recognise patient deterioration, manage complex clinical situations, and deliver safe, effective, and timely interventions as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Through advanced learning, students strengthen their problem-solving, communication, leadership, and collaborative practice skills while gaining the confidence required to support critically unwell patients. Graduates with Critical Care specialisation knowledge are prepared to contribute to intensive care, emergency, and specialised healthcare settings, supporting improved patient outcomes and the ongoing development of high-quality critical care practices.
