COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Cybersecurity at La Trobe University comprises 240 credit points delivered across two levels, providing students with a comprehensive foundation in cybersecurity principles and advanced professional skills. Level one consists of 120 credit points of core subjects that establish essential knowledge in information technology and cybersecurity. Students complete the Academic Integrity Module before studying Information Technology Fundamentals, Introduction to Programming, Database Fundamentals, Network Engineering Fundamentals, Cyber Security Principles, Inside the Mind of a Hacker, Cyber Risk Management and Compliance, and Professional Practices and Entrepreneurship in Information Technology. These subjects develop technical competencies in networking, secure programming, cyber risk assessment, and ethical considerations while building a strong understanding of cyber threats and defence strategies. Level two also comprises 120 credit points, including 60 credit points of core subjects and 60 credit points from a chosen specialization stream. Core subjects include Project Management, Computer Forensics, Penetration Testing Principles, and Cybersecurity Governance, enabling students to strengthen their expertise in digital investigations, vulnerability assessment, security management, and organizational governance. The specialization component allows students to customize their studies according to their career aspirations by selecting subjects worth 60 credit points from an approved stream. This well-structured curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge, practical application, and professional development, ensuring graduates are equipped with the technical, analytical, and leadership skills required to address complex cybersecurity challenges across diverse industries.
