COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Biotechnology Management at La Trobe University requires the completion of 240 credit points, consisting entirely of core subjects that integrate biotechnology expertise with business and management knowledge. The first level includes 120 credit points of core coursework designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both scientific and organisational disciplines. Students complete subjects including Accounting and Finance for Managers, Economics for Global Leaders, Statistics for Business, and Organisational Behaviour and Management Practice, developing essential skills in financial decision-making, economic analysis, business data interpretation, leadership, and effective management. Alongside these business-focused subjects, students undertake biotechnology units such as Practical Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Proteomics and Genomics, and Skills in Science. These subjects provide practical laboratory experience, computational approaches to biological data analysis, and an understanding of advanced scientific technologies used in modern biotechnology research and industry. The curriculum combines scientific innovation with strategic business principles, enabling students to understand how biotechnology products and services can be developed, managed, and commercialised effectively. Through this interdisciplinary approach, students gain expertise in biotechnology applications, data analysis, organisational management, and scientific communication.
