COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management consists of 360 credit points, including 300 core credit points and 60 elective credit points or a minor. The course structure is designed to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to manage sport and recreation services in diverse community settings. In the first level, students build foundational understanding in recreation, sport, management, program design, coaching principles, human resource management, contemporary sport issues, and the relationship between growth, development and nutrition. These subjects introduce students to the key concepts involved in planning and delivering effective sport and recreation programs. In the second level, students advance their skills through studies in sport and recreation planning, sport development, program delivery and evaluation, diversity, facility and venue management, and government policy and funding. Students also have the opportunity to tailor their studies through electives or a chosen minor, allowing them to develop additional areas of interest. The course combines theoretical learning with practical applications, preparing students to work with communities, sporting organisations, clubs and government bodies. Graduates develop skills in leadership, communication, program management and strategic planning, supporting careers in sport administration, recreation management, community development and related industries.
