COURSE CURRICULUM

The Microbiology major consists of 120 credit points within the Bachelor of Science program and provides students with a detailed understanding of microorganisms and their roles in biological, environmental and health-related systems. The major is structured across three levels of study, allowing students to develop foundational knowledge of microbial science before progressing to advanced concepts and applications. Students explore the characteristics, functions and interactions of microorganisms, including bacteria and other microbes, and examine their influence on human health, ecosystems, food production and environmental processes. The course structure combines theoretical learning with practical laboratory experiences, helping students develop skills in microbial investigation, scientific analysis, research methods and data interpretation. Students study important areas such as infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, biotechnology, environmental microbiology and the role of microbes in sustainable solutions.
