COURSE CURRICULUM

The Genetics major consists of 120 credit points within the Bachelor of Science program and provides students with a detailed understanding of genetic principles, molecular processes and their applications in biological sciences. The major is structured across three levels of study, allowing students to develop foundational knowledge before progressing to advanced concepts in genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology. Students explore how genes influence the development, function and health of organisms, as well as how genetic variation contributes to biological diversity and disease. The course structure develops skills in scientific investigation, laboratory techniques, data analysis and interpretation of genetic information. Students examine the role of genetics in areas such as medical research, disease understanding, biotechnology, conservation and evolutionary studies. Through theoretical learning and practical activities, students gain the ability to analyse genetic mechanisms and apply scientific approaches to real-world challenges.
