COURSE CURRICULUM

The Ecology major consists of 120 credit points within the Bachelor of Science program and provides students with a comprehensive understanding of ecosystems, biodiversity and the interactions between organisms and their environments. The major is structured across three levels of study, allowing students to develop foundational knowledge in biological sciences before progressing to advanced ecological concepts and applications. Students explore topics including species diversity, ecological relationships, environmental change, conservation, landscape processes and the impacts of human activities on natural systems. Through theoretical learning and practical experiences, students develop skills in field observation, ecological data collection, analysis and interpretation of environmental patterns. The major encourages students to investigate current ecological challenges such as climate change, habitat loss, biodiversity decline and threatened species conservation. Students learn how scientific approaches can be applied to understand ecosystems and develop strategies for sustainable environmental management. By completing the Ecology major, graduates gain the knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in conservation, environmental consulting, wildlife management, research, government agencies and sustainability sectors.
