COURSE CURRICULUM

The Crop Science major consists of 120 credit points within the Bachelor of Science program and is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of sustainable crop production and agricultural systems. Across the major, students develop knowledge of plant biology, agronomy, crop management, soil and land resources, and the scientific principles that influence food production. The course structure builds progressively across three levels, allowing students to develop foundational scientific knowledge before advancing into specialised topics related to crop improvement, agricultural sustainability and modern farming challenges. Students learn how to analyse agricultural problems, apply research methods, interpret scientific data and develop practical solutions to improve crop productivity and environmental outcomes. The major incorporates theoretical learning with practical experiences, including laboratory and field-based activities that connect scientific concepts with real-world agricultural applications. Students explore issues such as climate change, food security, sustainable resource use, plant health and emerging agricultural technologies. By completing the Crop Science major, graduates gain valuable skills for careers in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental management, research organisations and food production industries, supporting the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for future global food challenges.
