COURSE CURRICULUM

The Network Engineering major consists of 120 credit points within a 360-credit-point degree and is designed to develop advanced knowledge and practical skills in computer networks, infrastructure management and digital communication systems. The course structure begins with core subjects such as Introduction to Cybersecurity and Data-Based Critical Thinking, providing students with essential knowledge of cyber protection, analytical reasoning and computing fundamentals. In Level one, students also complete major subjects and electives that introduce networking concepts and technical foundations. Level two builds on this knowledge through core subjects including Database Fundamentals, User Interface Design and Systems Analysis and Design, while specialised Network Engineering subjects develop expertise in network architecture, routing, switching, cloud networking and network security. Elective options allow students to expand their knowledge across related information technology fields. In Level three, students complete a Capstone Project where they apply their networking and technical skills to solve real-world problems, supported by studies in Project Management and Professional Practices and Entrepreneurship in Information Technology. Advanced major subjects strengthen students’ abilities in network design, troubleshooting, optimisation and secure infrastructure management. Throughout the program, students gain practical experience using industry-relevant networking concepts and technologies. Graduates are prepared for careers as network engineers, systems administrators, cloud networking specialists, cybersecurity professionals and IT infrastructure consultants in a wide range of industries.
