COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Sciences with a major in Health, Wellbeing and Performance at La Trobe University requires students to complete 360 credit points, structured across three levels of study, with each level consisting of 120 credit points. The course provides students with a broad foundation in health sciences while allowing specialization through the 120 credit point Health, Wellbeing and Performance major. This major focuses on developing the knowledge and practical skills required to support mental health, wellbeing, and performance in diverse environments, including sport, workplaces, education, and community settings. Students explore the principles of positive psychology, including mindfulness, gratitude, resilience, and hope, and learn how these approaches can be applied to enhance wellbeing and personal development. The program also develops essential communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills that enable students to effectively support individuals and small groups. Students gain an understanding of performance principles, motivation, behaviour change, and strategies for promoting positive health outcomes. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical application, students develop the ability to assess wellbeing needs, design supportive interventions, and facilitate improvements in mental health and performance. Graduates are prepared for careers in wellbeing support, health promotion, community services, sports and performance settings, workplace wellbeing programs, and further postgraduate study in related health and psychology fields.
