COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Sciences with a major in Health Promotion at La Trobe University requires students to complete 360 credit points, structured across three levels of study, with each level consisting of 120 credit points. The course provides students with a broad understanding of health sciences while allowing them to specialize in Health Promotion through a 120 credit point major. Throughout the program, students develop the knowledge and practical skills required to support individuals, communities, and populations in improving and maintaining their health. The Health Promotion major focuses on understanding the factors that influence health behaviours and outcomes, including social, cultural, environmental, and community influences. Students learn how to design, plan, deliver, assess, and evaluate health promotion programs and initiatives using evidence-based approaches. The major emphasizes the development of skills in communication, community engagement, health education, program management, and evaluation to address current and emerging health challenges. Students gain the ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce health inequalities. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application, graduates are prepared for careers in health promotion, public health, community development, health education, and related fields.
