COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Sciences with a Digital Health major at La Trobe University requires students to complete 360 credit points, structured across three levels of study with 120 credit points at each level. The course is designed to progressively develop students’ understanding of health sciences while allowing specialization through a 120 credit point Digital Health major. Throughout the program, students build foundational knowledge in health, technology, data, and healthcare systems before advancing into more specialized areas of digital healthcare. The Digital Health major focuses on preparing students for the increasing role of technology in modern healthcare by developing skills in areas such as health analytics, digital health systems, virtual care, and emerging technologies including the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). Students learn how digital solutions can be applied to improve healthcare access, efficiency, decision-making, and patient outcomes. The major emphasizes practical application, innovation, and the ability to evaluate and implement technology-based approaches within healthcare environments. Through a combination of theoretical learning, problem-solving, and industry-relevant skills, students gain the capability to understand and respond to the challenges of a rapidly changing digital health sector. Graduates are prepared for careers in digital health management, health informatics, healthcare technology, data analysis, and related fields, contributing to improved healthcare delivery and better health outcomes for individuals and communities.
