COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Sciences at La Trobe University requires students to complete 360 credit points, including 60 credit points of core subjects, 60 credit points of electives, and a 120 credit point major. Students must also complete the remaining 120 credit points through one of several pathways: an additional 120 credit point major, a combination of a 60 credit point minor and 60 credit points of electives, or 120 credit points of electives. The course structure is organized across three levels, with students progressively developing their knowledge and skills in health sciences while tailoring their studies according to their interests and career goals. The Allied Health major consists of 120 credit points and is designed to provide students with the foundational knowledge and professional capabilities needed for further study and careers in allied health fields. Through this major, students develop skills in communication, reflective practice, evidence-based decision-making, and client-centred care. They explore the role of physical activity in preventing and managing chronic disease while gaining insight into healthcare systems and the social, cultural, ethical, economic, and professional factors influencing healthcare delivery. The flexible course structure allows students to combine health science studies with other disciplines, enabling them to build a broad skillset and prepare for postgraduate professional programs or diverse careers in healthcare, community services, and health promotion.
