COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Cybersecurity/Bachelor of Criminology at La Trobe University requires students to complete a total of 480 credit points, combining cybersecurity expertise with criminology, law, and social science knowledge. The course consists of 240 credit points of Cybersecurity coded subjects and 240 credit points of Law and Humanities coded subjects. The Cybersecurity component includes 240 credit points of core subjects, providing students with comprehensive knowledge in cybersecurity fundamentals, programming, cyber risk management, incident response, ethical hacking, digital forensics, threat detection, and security technologies. The Criminology component includes 240 credit points of core subjects, focusing on crime, criminal justice systems, criminological theories, criminal law, cyber law, social factors influencing crime, and policy responses to security challenges. The program is structured across four academic levels, with each level requiring completion of 120 credit points. Early studies develop foundational understanding of cybersecurity, crime, justice, and research methods, while later stages focus on advanced concepts, practical applications, investigations, and emerging digital security issues. Through laboratories, simulations, case studies, and applied learning activities, students develop technical, analytical, investigative, and critical thinking skills. The integrated curriculum prepares graduates for careers in cybersecurity, cybercrime investigation, digital forensics, intelligence analysis, law enforcement, security consulting, and roles requiring expertise in both technology and criminal justice.
