COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Science at La Trobe University requires students to complete a total of 480 credit points, combining business and scientific disciplines to develop interdisciplinary knowledge and professional skills. The course consists of 240 credit points of Commerce subjects and 240 credit points of Science subjects. The Commerce component includes 105 credit points of core subjects, 15 credit points of prescribed electives, and one 120 credit point major selected from the Commerce major list, allowing students to specialise in areas such as finance, marketing, business analytics, or other commerce fields. The Science component includes 60 credit points of core subjects, one 120 credit point major selected from the Science major list, and 60 credit points of elective or minor subjects, enabling students to develop expertise in their chosen scientific area. The program is structured across four academic levels, with each level requiring completion of 120 credit points, followed by specialised major and minor studies. Students build foundational knowledge in business, science, research methods, and analytical skills before progressing to advanced studies and applied learning. This integrated curriculum develops critical thinking, innovation, communication, research, and problem-solving abilities, preparing graduates for careers in scientific management, technology innovation, research and development, consulting, commercialisation of scientific discoveries, and industries requiring combined business and scientific expertise.
