COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Computer Science at La Trobe University requires students to complete a total of 480 credit points, combining business and computing disciplines to develop multidisciplinary expertise. The course consists of 240 credit points of Commerce subjects and 240 credit points of Computer Science subjects. The Commerce component includes 105 credit points of core subjects, 15 credit points of prescribed electives, and a 120 credit point major selected from the Commerce major list, allowing students to specialise in an area of business interest. The Computer Science component includes 120 credit points of core subjects and a 120 credit point major selected from the Computer Science major list, providing advanced knowledge in computing and technology. The program is structured across four academic levels, with each level requiring completion of 120 credit points. Early studies focus on developing foundations in commerce, programming, mathematics, data, and computing principles. Intermediate levels build specialised knowledge through major subjects, technical skills, and applied business concepts. The final stage emphasises advanced learning, problem-solving, research, and industry-focused applications. This integrated curriculum enables students to combine commercial understanding with computer science capabilities, preparing graduates for careers in technology management, business analytics, software development, digital transformation, fintech, consulting, and other roles requiring both business and technological expertise.
