COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Event Management) at La Trobe University requires students to complete a total of 360 credit points. The program includes 60 credit points of core business subjects, a 120 credit point Tourism and Event Management major, and 180 credit points that can be completed through a second major, minor, specialisation, or elective subjects, allowing students to personalise their studies. In the first year, students complete 120 credit points covering foundational business knowledge including accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics, business law, data fundamentals, and introductory tourism and event concepts. The second year consists of 120 credit points with specialised subjects focusing on tourism operations, hospitality management, event planning, customer experience, destination management, sustainability, and industry practices, along with elective or major subjects. The final year includes 120 credit points featuring advanced studies in tourism and event management, strategic planning, innovation, leadership, sustainable practices, and applied industry projects. Students gain practical experience through hotel management simulations, industry placements, case studies, and hands-on activities designed to reflect real-world challenges in tourism, hospitality, and events. The curriculum develops skills in communication, leadership, project management, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making, preparing graduates for careers in tourism management, hospitality operations, event coordination, destination marketing, visitor experience management, and related global service industries.
