COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business (Finance) at La Trobe University requires students to complete a total of 360 credit points. The program consists of 60 credit points of core business subjects, a 120 credit point Finance major, and 180 credit points that can be completed through a second major, minor, specialisation, or elective subjects, providing flexibility to tailor studies to individual career aspirations. In the first year, students complete 120 credit points covering foundational subjects such as accounting, finance, economics, management, marketing, business law, and data fundamentals. The second year includes 120 credit points with intermediate finance subjects focusing on corporate finance, investment analysis, financial markets, portfolio management, and risk assessment, alongside elective or major subjects. The final year comprises 120 credit points featuring advanced studies in financial management, investment valuation, portfolio strategy, risk management, and applied finance, together with additional elective or specialisation subjects. Students also gain practical experience through financial modelling, case studies, and the use of industry-standard trading platforms and analytical tools to solve real-world financial problems. The curriculum develops strong analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills, preparing graduates for careers in corporate finance, banking, investment management, financial planning, funds management, financial consulting, and other roles across the global financial services industry.
