COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physiology and Pharmacology major provides students with an in-depth understanding of the relationship between human body functions and the medicines used to maintain health and treat disease. Building on core biomedical studies in areas such as molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and microbiology, this major explores how organs and body systems operate at molecular, cellular and systemic levels. Students investigate physiological processes during normal conditions, ageing, exercise, stress and disease, while developing knowledge of how drugs interact with biological systems and produce therapeutic effects. Through advanced study, practical classes and integrated learning activities, students develop skills in scientific analysis, laboratory techniques, data interpretation and effective communication of complex biomedical concepts. The major examines key principles of pharmacology, including drug mechanisms, clinical applications and the development of treatments for various health conditions. Graduates gain the scientific knowledge and practical skills required for careers in healthcare, pharmaceutical industries, biomedical research and related fields.
