COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Biomedicine with a major in Immunology and Infectious Disease provides students with a comprehensive understanding of human health, disease processes and the interaction between microorganisms and the immune system. The course structure combines foundational biomedical studies with specialised knowledge in immunology, microbiology and infectious diseases. In the first year, students develop essential knowledge in molecular biology, human structure and function, disease burden, biomedical science, chemistry and developmental anatomy. These subjects establish an understanding of biological systems and the scientific principles behind health and disease. In the second year, students build advanced knowledge through studies in biochemistry, molecular biology, human physiology, anatomy, genetics and medical microbiology. These areas provide insight into how pathogens affect the body and how immune responses help protect against infection. In the third year, students complete the Immunology and Infectious Disease major, exploring microbial pathogens, immune regulation, disease prevention and modern biomedical approaches. The course develops skills in scientific analysis, research interpretation, critical thinking and communication. Graduates are prepared for careers in biomedical research, healthcare, biotechnology, diagnostics, public health and infectious disease management, with opportunities for further study in medicine and specialised biomedical fields.
