COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science requires students to complete 360 credit points, including core subjects, core option subjects and electives that provide a balance of foundational knowledge, specialised biomedical understanding and opportunities for academic flexibility. In the first year, students develop essential skills in biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, biomedical science and data analysis. Core subjects introduce key concepts in cellular and organism biology, chemical principles, human body systems and infectious diseases, creating a strong foundation for further biomedical study. In the second year, students deepen their understanding of advanced biomedical concepts through subjects covering biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, metabolic processes and human systems physiology. Students explore how biological mechanisms influence health and disease, how medicines interact with the body and how scientific research contributes to medical advances. Elective subjects allow students to expand their knowledge according to their interests and career goals. Throughout the course, students develop skills in scientific reasoning, laboratory methods, research analysis and evidence-based problem solving. The program prepares graduates for careers in biomedical research, healthcare, biotechnology and related industries, while also providing a pathway to further postgraduate study in medicine, allied health and specialised biomedical fields.
