COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Physiological Sciences major within the Bachelor of Biological Sciences provides students with a comprehensive understanding of how the human body functions at cellular, organ and system levels. The major explores the mechanisms that regulate normal physiological processes and examines how these processes change during exercise, illness and disease. Students develop knowledge of key areas including human anatomy, cellular function, body systems, metabolism and the interactions between different physiological pathways that maintain health and performance. Through scientific investigation and practical learning, students build skills in experimental design, laboratory techniques, data collection, interpretation and research analysis. The major encourages students to think like scientists by applying evidence-based approaches to understand complex biological questions and explore solutions to health-related challenges. Students also examine how factors such as physical activity, environmental influences and therapeutic interventions can affect human physiology. With a strong foundation in biological sciences and research methods, graduates are prepared for careers in health and biomedical fields, exercise and performance science, medical research, clinical support roles and related industries.
