COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychological Science requires the completion of 360 credit points over three years of full-time study. Students complete at least one 120-credit-point Arts major, while the remaining 240 credit points can be completed through electives, an additional Arts or non-Arts major, or up to two minors, allowing flexibility to combine psychology with other disciplines. The Psychological Science major provides students with a scientific understanding of human behaviour, cognition, emotions, relationships, and psychological wellbeing. The curriculum introduces students to the foundations of psychology, including major theories, research methods, and evidence-based approaches used to understand human experiences. Students study psychological health and illness by examining biological, social, and psychological influences on behaviour and wellbeing. The major develops knowledge of psychological assessment methods, enabling students to understand how psychological functioning is evaluated and interpreted. Students also explore psychological interventions and examine different evidence-based approaches used to support individuals and communities. Research training is a key component, with students developing skills in research design, data analysis, statistical techniques, critical evaluation, and the preparation of research reports. Through practical learning and application of psychological theory, students gain strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Graduates develop transferable skills suitable for careers in health services, research, education, community support, human services, behavioural analysis, and further postgraduate study in psychology and related fields.
